Dell PC Monitor Connect
A Guide to Setting Up Your Dell PC!
Step 1
Unpack the computer and monitor from the box and packaging. Place items at the designated desk or work location. Locate the ports on the back of your computer.
Step 2
Locate the cable that will connect your computer to the monitor. There are 4 possible connector cable options:
Find your designated cable and identify the connector
Step 3
Connect one end of your cable into the designated port on the back of the computer and plug the other end into the designated port on the monitor.
If using a VGA or DVI cable, tighten the screws of each end into their port to keep the cable more secure. Be careful to correctly identify the right port to your cable, do NOT try to force the cable as you could damage the connector or the port on the computer.
Step 4
In some cases, your monitor may have a different port than your PC. (Ex. Monitor is VGA but you need to input a DisplayPort into your graphics card). In these scenarios, you may need an adapter. There are many kinds of adapters, but if your monitor and PC need one, it should be included in your items. Here are some examples of adapters:
Step 5
Unpack your keyboard and mouse and plug both into any available USB ports on the back of the computer. You may have also been given a Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter to help give your computer a stronger internet connection. If you have one of these, you will also plug this into a designated USB port on your computer.
Step 6
If using headphones or external speakers, you can insert them into the audio port on your computer. This will be a green port on the back of your computer or black in the front. If using a microphone, you can connect it to the designated mic port which is blue/pink in the back of your computer, or black in the front. Some audio and microphone devices may connect through USB. If so, connect them to available USB ports. Devices vary therefore, these instructions may not work for everyone and their audio needs.
Step 7
Locate your power supply cables and plug one cable into the power socket in the back of the computer and the other into the monitor. Then plug in both cables into a surge protector or the wall outlet.
Now you are ready to use your computer! Press the power button on the front to turn it on. Enjoy!
